ZDP is a tad less tough than other SS. That is of course compared at the hardness at which they are run and ZDP is run much, much harder than conventional SS. It is also a tad less stain resistant than, say, VG-10. But it sharpens like a carbon steel (meaning it is beautiful to sharpen), it forms hardly any burr and it takes a really sweet edge. One of those steels that just want to get sharp, if you know what I mean. Of course, due to the high carbide content and high hardness, rebeveling takes more work, but personally I think ZDP rebevels easier than S30V. Edgeholding is also outstanding.
So it is clearly best used in an EDC with emphasis on slicing. If you are one of those that think, that hooking a blade underneath a roofing nail is a common EDC task, I would stick with the regular VG-10 blades.
