Started this knife in 1988, and every part of it has been made at least twice. My brother bought my grinder for my birthday gift that year, and part of the deal was to
make him a honkin big butterfly knife. Here's the result.

I've had nothing but misery and mishaps making this thing, and he's convinced I'll never finish it. (That's a conviction I've fostered lately, because he'll have a real
surprize when he opens it at Christmas. Heh heh.)

Hopefully my grinding will have improved since I made this one, particularly given the level of the work I've seen around here. Thanks to Taz for reminding me to post this here!

Happy Holidays, work safe, have fun!

Holy crap!!!

From the way you were talking I expected to see some "run of the mill" beginners piece.

That thing is beautiful!

Thanks for all the kind words! I'm sure ready to get on with the next projects. And I have a few days off, too.

That is a awesome knife. I am not wild about the blade, but I have always perfered the slim line bali's. This one has the best looking handle I have seen on a bali. Thanks, JohnR7 www.BalisongKnife.com

Not a bad looking knife at all!!! Got a question though. Why does it look like each handle is two separate pieces, or are they?

Steve

Thanks for all the great feedback! Much more than I bargained for...

Steve, I don't know if this answers your questions, but there are four handle scales - two to a side, or if it makes more sense, two to a handle. But each of the four scales is whole.

Hope that helps, if not I'll try again!

By the way, weather prevented his getting the knife for Christmas, so he's getting it tomorrow, Saturday Dec 30. A good way for me to end the millennium!
