Thanks to a recent out of town trip and some forgotten food in the trash can, I have a modest proposal for a delicious and easy survival food source. The traps (shown below) for the food are cheap, and can catch a large amount of countless food types before being completely used.

Initial effort in setting the traps is minimal, and maintenance is almost nil. The traps can be set almost anywhere, negating the need to spend precious time scouting and planning your traps. You can simply check the traps periodically for newly acquired morsels, and enjoy the calories as necessary.

Look at all of this tastiness:

I used to hang these in my house to catch flies. Man, do those things work like a charm, until you walk into them.

I think to make maximum use of this food source one should encourage the appearance of said flying morsels.

Perhaps one might kill a small animal, for example a squirrel or rabbit, and leave it's carcass exposed in the vicinity. This simple act would, by itself, significantly increase the yield produced by your traps.

I don't know about the flys but I have a tube of tangle foot bird repellent that says if applied in bead bigger than 1/4 inch it could trap birds instead of repelling them?????

Brilliant! Use the entrails as further bait.

I figure 10 flies is at least one calorie.

I really hope no one thinks I am serious, but this is W&SS after all. :D
