On the blade is printed: Master Cutlery, Designed by shane sloan.

Seems pretty solid but I cant seem to find another one like it online or find anything about this shane sloan character, except a couple shit cheapo folders. could someone please help me out i would really appreciate it.

You can't link to an image on your hard drive. you need to use a photo hosting service like photobucket, flickr or picasa

I moved this to the General Knife Discussion. Bernard's forum is for identifying the old and the mysterious of the knife world. General Knife is more appropriate for tacticals.

Lots of people are happy to buy China cheapies, that's why they sell us so many. Don't cost much and "exotic" designs are eye-catchers. As people learn to use knives effectively, they buy simple designs in better materials.

At least cheap fixed blades aren't as dangerous to handle as cheap folders.

Welcome to the forums. I'm sure most of use have a few cheap folders and fixed blades laying around. I know I do. Use it and enjoy it, see what it will handle. Practice sharpening it, if you can figure out how to effectively sharpen that type of blade you will be able to sharpen most anything. Hang around and learn some stuff here so the next knife she buys you will be a little more durable.

You got a girl who bought you a blade :)

Mine would kill me if she ever found out I have not stopped!

I had an old dela five tanto folder. Picked it up years ago when I needed a beater in scouts. It was the last beater I ever bought, and its still going strong in my ex g/f's coaching bag. The steel didn't hold an great edge for terribly long, but made a good utility knife. It also ripped off the bolt lock design, which made it quite reliable compared to a cheap liner lock.

Honestly she could have done worse, if its like the folder I had its nothing too pretty, but it'll hold up well enough through some serious use. Best china knife I had until I bought a tenacious, and that includes the RAT1 I had.
