Does anyone have any thoughts on the Delta slow-speed grinder; the one with the large verticle wheel that turns about 80 rpm in a water bath. There is a 5" high speed white wheel on the side of the machine.

Suitability for sharpening, maybe even hollow grinding a blade for a beginning knife maker?

Thanks guys!

If you know the diameter of the wheel you can calculate the speed in surface feet per minute and compare to belt grinders. It sounds like you're talking about one of those sandstone wet wheels machinists use for precision sharpening ... one of those would be very slow for grinding a knife. 80 rpm translates to not many sfm (surface feet per minute) unless the wheel is a hundred feet in diameter.
