I haven't seen much on BladeForums about the Delta-Z/Darell Ralph Osprey so here is my show-and-tell. I had seen the Osprey in Delta-Z ads. A couple of months ago there was a back-page profile of the damascus version in one magazine that over-emphasized the unusual shape of the knife in both the text and pictures and I all but ignored it. I don't go for weird.
When I actually saw the Osprey at the Delta-Z booth at the Blade show I was surprised that it does not have a radically strange shape. The Osprey's unique shape is interesting but not too far off of conventional. It was also smaller and in my mind looked a lot better in hand than it does in the ads. Delta-Z wasn't selling at Blade but referred me to their website. I got the fancy model with Red Maple Burl scales, anodized bolsters, and black Teflon coated blade. Had there been the option I would have picked a bead-blasted blade and bolster with the Red Maple Burl scales. None of these pictures show just how red the scales appear in daylight. The opening hole has an odd shape but it opens just fine using my medium-sized hand.
Anyway, this isn't an evaluation, it is show-and-tell so here is the show part. There are three pictures. The first two are the front and back. The last picture shows the Osprey with a small classic Sebenza.
