I just got the Demko AD 20.5 in S35VN. When checking for blade play I notice that it make a clicking sound when I wiggled the blade up and down. The blade itself doesn’t have any play in it though. Has anyone else experienced this and if so is that normal for the shark lock mechanism?

I don’t have an AD 20.5 but I have a flytanium arcade (same lock made by the same manufacturer) and mine will make that sound if I don’t have my fingers or hand on the lock bar.

I have had three Demko ad 20.5s and they all did it, was kinda disappointing because you can actually hear it also, I sold them and decided to get a Flytanium arcade to give the shark lock another try because maybe it was a fluke but nope the arcades shark lock does the same clicking, The arcade is 100 times better and more appealing than the ADs and I love the knife but I’m just curious what demkos opinion is on this situation, I’m still going to use it and see if it wears in or settles.

Have a 20.5 and a 20S and not sure what you guys are talking about. No play and no noise on mine.

A regular blade play test from the tip of blade and it does fine but as soon as you put a little bit of force downwards anywhere on the blade it clicks and continues to click until you close and reopen knife, it’s very odd, there’s a YouTube video showing the exact issue even after coming back from warranty, I think they considered it within spec so I that’s why I continued to just carry mine.

Think I found the video, and looks like the lock actually slides back a bit each time. Mine don't do that, but I could see that being concerning.

Watch the follow up video, there’s two videos the second video shows the lock slide back issue fixed but knife clicks when thumb pressure is applied, that’s what all my shark locks have done and still do, I think you watched the first video before he sent it to warranty.
