Mornin all, hope y’all are having a good weekend.
Just got ahold of a new AD20 from Capital T Capital T
and absolutely love it, thanks brother! What a freaking BEAST!! The action is a little rough/gritty and squeaks a little but I’m gonna attempt disassembling it and lubing a few spots tomorrow 🤞🏼. I’m sure break in will take some time and sore index fingers.
My question is about some lock stick that’s very intermittent but locks it up pretty bad when it hits. I’ve only dealt with frame locks such as Medford’s before with lock stick so looking for some advice for the shark lock.
Of course any advice on disassembling and lubing would be fantastic too. Would it be worth installing some better (maybe skiff) bearings?
Thanks all, be safe!

I've experienced the same thing with my AD20s, but I'm afraid I can't offer any advice. I messed around a little with my pivot. Cleaned oil off the contact area on the lock and tang, etc. Nothing I tried had an immediate effect, but the problem went away after a few days of break in.

Clean it, oil pivot and the lock (including where it moves against the steel liners).

Don't loose the spring :)

I've been thinking about contacting demko and maybe sending in my first ad20s. I have to hit the lock against something if I push the blade into the lock. It's fine if I don't push on the blade from the spline but if I do damn does it get stuck. I've had it for two years and play with it profusely. The second one was abused before I got it but has no lock stick at all. I've torn both apart to clean them.

Hey all,
I put some oil on the blade lock face and lock face and let it sit for a few hours then cleaned those surfaces really well. The squeaky pivot and lock seem to be perfect now. I’m not going to disassemble it yet as I’ve got a new set of taco bearings coming soon. I’m not sure if it’ll last or if it’ll work for everyone but worth a try. I’m thinking that breaking it in along with the oil helped clean and smooth everything. I definitely wouldn’t have used oil on the lock if it wasn’t this type lock but I can’t tell that it effected the stability/strength of the shark lock.
Best of luck all!!

Same experience here. I tried everything else first, because as a rule oil on a lock face is what causes lock stick. Seems the shark lock is just the opposite. I added a tiny drop of Gunny Lube to the tang surfaces that interact with the lock and it seems to have cured my lock stick.

Is the lock titanium, the reason I ask is because the maker of that knife said in a video that I seen about 4 years ago said that the titanium version of that lock was prone to sticking until it broke in,I would also try Gunny Juice on it as well I use it on my Manix 2's and after breaking them in with Gunny Juice they are way slicker then breaking them and and using a normal oil.

The Shark lock is steel.
