Hello y’all!
As some of you know I purchased my first Demko at Blade Show, and I’ve been using it a lot!
But I have one problem, the 20CV seems to be a little soft, and the edge likes to glint pretty easily. My question is, does anyone know what HRC Demko leaves there 20CV at? And does anyone else have this problem with there Demko?

have ya tried emailing yet....

"Email info@andrewdemko.com for information on products."

Demkos pretty accessible or use to be.....he used to come to the cold steel forum back when he worked there. sure he's busier than normal now though.
I have not asked yet, I wanted to see if anyone here just knew off the top of there head, though reaching out to him will be my next step.

Which model ? U.S. or offshore ?
AD20, U.S

Thought y’all would like to know the conclusion.

I Emailed Demko and they said they harden them to 60-61 RC, but the blade was definitely softer then that, so I asked if it could be possible that it had an over heated edge? He said he was almost certain the edge was not over heated, but he said he would be interested to hear if it improved after removing more material.
So I sharpened it removing a little more material then a ”normal“ sharpening. since then the edge has been holding up much better, so I guess it was just an over heated edge.

Please know that I am not trying to throw Demko under the bus in any way, they are a great company and lovely people, and if your on the fence about getting one, don’t be because there awesome!

I bought an AD20 MG in 3V and found the edge rolled when I was cuttting a strap. I reprofiled the edge to getter a better slicer and have been surprised that the edge has never rolled or chipped since.

Im tempted to buy an AD20i and give it a poke with a 15N.
Why the international version (just curious) are you assuming the Italian blades are somehow better or worse?

To be honest, if your going to buy anything other than the 20.5 Taiwan variant, you should aim to get the new US Magnacut versions produced in 2024 of this year. Each one goes through their PA shop and dozens of people have tested them at random and so far nobody has received an HRC less than 62. And as you know, Magnacut at 62-63 is GODLY since it's pretty much the hardest and most corrosion proof metal in existence.

Curiosity more so than anything.

The Italians have been done a great disservice by a lot of people claiming poor heat treat and so forth. I have hardness tested most of my knives and they are always in range of the spec provided.

Im just a nerd.

Haha right on brother. I too; also get mine tested and modded out the gills. I'm definitely a knife addict through and through.

If you ever test one LMK. I had a chance to buy a full thickness AD20-i in Titanium a month ago and I skipped because I wanted the new US AD20S v2 in titanium w/ magnacut. Unfortunately that knife is pretty much un-buyable since it sells out in milliseconds from wherever it's listed. I have a normal Grivory one that I pre ordered O.G Goats for but Original Goat has a 5 month window from order to delivery right now. So I'll be waiting until Christmas unfortunately.
