I've been seeing AD15s going for less than than they come from Andrew here on the exchange, which frankly shocks me. You would be hard pressed to find an AD10 at any price. I have both a an AD10 and an AD15. While I love both, the AD15 get more pocket time. I love the Scorpion lock: it is strong and easy to use, while being much easier to clean than the Triad. Any else out there like this lock? Is the lock the reason these come up on the exchange so often? I may just have to pick up a second AD15 sometime as well priced as they are!

I'm hoping to see that Scorpion lock in a midtech or even production variant. I will preorder one of those in a heartbeat.

I would be all over a midtech version. I suspect it would be very affordable as well.

It's unarguably and amazing lock, kudos to Demko for yet another home run in the lock department. Now if we could just get some production knives with it please!

I like the gadget factor from an engineering perspective and came close to pulling the trigger on one last week at a great price on the exchange.
But...
I think the (qualities) reason I like it is exactly the reason so many others may not and may be a factor why they're a tough(ish) sell on the secondary market.
I'm in agreement that it's a great overbuilt folder but as someone already mentioned, I'll wait for the mid-tech version so I won't take such a big hit on depreciation.

I've wondered thi i've only had CS triad locks. I've never had the pleasure of playing with a Demo.

What qualities do you like about it Barman, in terms of the lock?

It looks awkward to disengage to me, though being from Demko I'm sure its well made and very strong.

I love the AD15 and the Scorpion Lock. Took me a while to get smooth unlocking it but I think that's because it's just so different.

I agree. I had some trouble at first, but with some use it is very natural. I like the looks of the all Ti!

I personally think that the lockbar design makes it awkward to disengage. Like you have to change grip to open it, and when you are disengaging it you are only holding the lockbar and the blade. Almost feel like you can drop it easily. IMHO it's just not a natural movement.

I actually proposed a design change last year that is a hybrid Scorpion/Triad lock. Basically merging the front part of the scorpion lock with the back part of the Triad lock/back lock so that it's more intuitive to close like the axis lock where you only need to move your thumb to disengage the lock bar.

This is the concept i drew, and Mr Demko said it's doable.

The modified design looks like it would decrease the blade to handle ratio dramatically, in both blade length and height. Also it would increase the lock bar resistance quite a bit, unnecessarily.

Not really IMO, if you can adjust the backspacer position to be more efficient. The blade to handle ratio shouldn't change as it's usually determined by the depth of your tang, and in this design, it doesn't change. The width of the knife when close may increase, but again it depends on the execution on the lockbar and the backspacer placement.
Remember this is just a napkin drawing of what it can be, you will have to simulate that in CAD for most optimal design.

Love mine, very easy to engage/ disengage and it feels like it could chop a tree down.
