Demo vids - a lighthearted discussion

Hey guys,

I was sitting here bored today, flipping through Cold Steel's ridiculous knife demos, and quickly started wondering why Busse doesn't make some of these.

I mean, I know there's a certain disapproval of CS marketing in the knife circles due to the negative connotations they send about knives used as weapons, but is that a concern for a company called Busse _combat_? Selling knives called _battle_ mistress?

I'm not even saying you guys need to set up car doors and hunks of pig to slice through. Maybe just take a Battle Mistress and go straight nuts on a tree. It won't convince me by itself to drop nearly $400 on a knife right away, but it would certainly help the decision. Even if I wasn't, well, it would be entertaining and get people talking.

Even Swamp Rat did a demo vid with the Rodent waki. I'd love to see how many swings it takes a Busse.

Do Not buy a BUSSE.:D Because you wont be able to stop, once you find out what you have been missing.:cool:
 
Don't worry Infi is a sickness.. it doesnt need any sort of video to turn u into a Fiend!! uhhh I mean buyer..

Well, check out noss's videos, Jerry did couple of demos at the shows. There are plenty of videos out there showing off the blades. There is really no need for Jerry to brag, while his company is called Busse Combat, a knife on todays battle field is a lot more of tool then a weapon. There is really no need for Jerry to brag, his work speaks for itself. I didn't fork $400 for a knife when I bout my first Busse, I did some research before. I just wanted a knife with great warranty and I couldn't find other makers as readily at the time as Jerry. When you look at high end knives like strider, Extrema Ratio, MerkWorx, their knives cost as much as Bussy, so you choose your tool accordingly.

I think Cold Steel Marketing is well just that Marketing they are trying everything to sell more knives and that is understandable. Jerry has his own way to market his blades, and a lot of people here consider it genius. I mean what other knife maker and owner of a company will get trashed with customers, and then give out over $12k in knives for Christmas, then when one of the drunken customers gets into a bar fight with tank, and actually breaks the knife, Jerry will offer himself to fix it.

Now that could be called marketing, I just think Jerry is that kind of guy, who takes pride in what he does, and he does what he does good.

Also he is to drunk to make video most of the time.
 
You answered your own question..."ridiculous knife demo's"

Many of Jerry's knives go to military personnel (Bussekin as well) and are used during actual combat by deployed soldiers, so the Combat in the name is more than appropriate. When you have knives selling out in 2 minutes during Ganzaaa's I don't believe "additional marketing" is required. Those who use his knives know what they can do and know their worth, no gimmicks needed. Try one out and you wont be disappointed you dropped 4 bills...you'll only be disappointed that you don't have 5k a month to spend on them. ;)
 
No need for the Busse team to organize a vid when so many of the fans and users are doing just that everyday here in pictorials and reviews.

There is a place to start. I've got some vids also, then a quick search of the BF database and you could be busy for hours sifting through the infotainment.
 
I think silly company vids would take away credit from the company. I think user vids are much better determination of a quality blade. I dont think i would have been interested in Busse if they did silly vids like coldsteel. If you make such silly vids how do I know your knives are actually quality?

That being said, I like the waki video, but it didnt have any corny poses or "Hard core" knife users and stances hehe
 
IIRC, Jerry promised us a few years ago that they would start putting up vids.

I think it will be only two more weeks.
 
No votes to see Jerry in bicycle shorts chopping at slabs of ribs? Have the whole Busse team dressed head to toe in tight black clothes sticking knives in car hoods? :D

The knives speak for themselves.. Drop the money on one. I've done some crazy crap with my Busses, including chopping up other knives, they just laughed at me when they were done.

Whenever I think I want a CS knife, I watch the video and think again. I just can't take it seriously. A unlimited lifetime warranty is always better then a video. Not that CS has bad products but the marketing does not work for me.
 
They have made videos; the videos used to be available on the old Busse website. There were videos of driving Busse knives through steel diamond plate, of slicing through 10 1 inch hanging hemp ropes in one swipe, of puttting them in a vice and putting huge lateral forces on the knives, etc. They've also done live demonstrations at Blade Show.

I'm not sure why they didn't put the videos on the new site, and I'm not sure why Jerry never made, or never posted, the videos he said he was going to do, a couple years ago.

In any case, it's hardly necessary, anymore, now that so many people have made their own videos and photos and reviews of Busse knives being used hard.
