we here all share an interest in knives. Many share an interest in guns or flashlights. Now, here's my question. What else do you collect. I personally have a fairly eclectic set of interests. What else do you collect, how long have you been collecting, and what is (are) your most notable prized pieces.

for me: I will give a cookie to whomever can correctly guess what I collect given that my favorite item in the collection is titled: "L'Hiver à Paris ou La neige à Paris."

If you can correctly tell me its context, creator, etc. I will be very impressed. Then I'll list some of my other favorites (if anyone cares)

My question still remains: what do you collect?

***dont feel clever if you google that. That's cheating

you probably paid a pretty penny for your piece, that's all i'll say.

I like knives and guns of course. Oil reproductions strike my fancy occasionally as well.

Firearms. race car parts, ( seems odd, but it started when i was in the pits and was giving a melted piston from a Don Garlits TF'r) now expanded to only included race worn or damaged parts, Some art, mostly Older photography of sailing in and around Massachusetts, in particular Nantucket and Cape Cod. Collecting early salt water fishing stuff.

Other hobbies include, hockey, baseball/softball, sailing, fishing, hot rods, live music.

i collect guns, (WW2 is my favorite) knives, (I started it off with autos only, and then moved on to just about all of em.) old bikes, (pedal, italian and french road racing, from the 60's to the late 80s, and american bmx, from the mid 80's) militaria. any british and u.s. from the early 70's to the early 90's, and survival gear; brit and u.s from the late 80's to present.
old hotrods, (u.s. only) though I only have one as of now, i fully plan on a few more as soon as i can. and a future hobby will to complete a collection of army lrrp/ranger scrolls. its quite common i guess. used to collect old padlocks as well. I was quite fascinated with locks. who knows why.

As far as hobbies, I shoot for leisure, and competition, I work on my buick, and race it, and Im heavily into softball.

For me, this is my only hobby. The other things I do are more lifestyle, I suppose. I'm really big into seakayaking and before this past year, I averaged over 100 days/year in a boat. I also dabble in whitewater. I love mountaineering and do some vertical ice as well. In the past, I've also been into adventure racing. So, I just love doing stuff outside. Perhaps researching for the best gear could be considered a hobby of sorts. I really got into this in the last year since I injured my back and couldn't do the other things I normally did for about 5 months. Now that I'm on the mend from surgery, this stuck and continues to be something I enjoy.

Sort-of collect:
Vintage computers.

Other hobbies:
Modern computers, in particular alternative operating systems. Historic restoration of my 1904 home. Motorcycling. Photography. Backpacking/hiking/outdoors.

I do not collect prints.

Actually I do not collect anything but my daughter says that I collect collections, because I have knives, harmonicas, referee whistles, wine glasses, corkscrews, baseballs, ping pong equipment, coffee mugs, whatever... nothing fancy or expensive, just things that I enjoy having.

I guess I'm just an accumulator, I buy things that I like and they accumulate over the years, I use things and don't put them on display, I like it when I take out a nice glass to drink my wine and think: hey I have not used this one for a while...

...Vintage computers...
I still have and old Apple II+ with no drives, when the video stopped working (or the home made TV adaptor) I put it in a box and bought a Commodore 64 with 6" floppy, this one still works and sometimes gets connected to a TV (though I would guess that the old amber monitor still works), I have several cool games and a Simon Basic cartridge. I used to have a Timex Sinclair with the 16 KB cartridge but gave it away, I have used Atari 400, Z80 Nec with CPM and Burroughs B20. I also have several sliderules (mostly from my High school and College days) and a used but in fine shape Curta calculator that belonged to my father.

I still have and old Apple II+...
I have some similar Apples that someone gave me, but they're destined to eBay for parts only. No power supplies and other critical missing components.

Most of my working Macs are various LC models. I have a couple of early Powerbook laptops too, the first color model. My newest Mac is a Power Computing clone that I bought ($6) to dual-boot MacOS and BeOS.

Yep, I have a Timex Sinclair also. What a hunk of junk. At least it's lightweight and doesn't take up much space.

My others include:
Couple of TRS-80 models, one piece with the keyboard and monitor built in
Kaypro 2, a 40lb 'laptop' with very pointy metal corners. :(
Commodore 128D, the first Commodore with the floppy drive built in and keyboard seperate. Push a button and it becomes a Commodore 64!
Couple of TI99 4/a computers, and lots of accessories.
Mattel Aquarius with nearly all of the software and accessories made for it.
3 or 4 very early IBMs, the first computers to be called "PC"s, the 5150 and 5160, with monitors and keyboards.
And a pile of various early PCs - they need sorting and canabalizing.

Calculators, my first was a Radio Shack EC-498. The board broke and I can't find another one anywhere...

I also have a selection of TI calcs: TI83+, 83+ Silver, 84+ Silver, and a TI92+.

I build models like the guy in my avatar. I don't have the time and space to fully finish them(mod, scratchbuild and paint), but it's something I intend to do.

Knives, Guns, and Flashlights of course.....Also like machine work (lathe and mill), building furniture (wood), hiking, playing with my dog, and movies.
