Being on disability my income has dropped a bit. Because of this I am limiting my knife buying to $200 or less. Of course if I found something I really, really wanted I would go over that, but as much as possible I am going to be sticking to the above figure. That said, I have seen a few reports concerning the Dendra knives, but not much as of late. I was looking at three folders with one to be my first buy of 2014. That "award" went to a Spyderco Szabo. The other two are the BM Contego with the blue/black handle scales and M390 blade steel, along with the topic of this thread, the Dendra Deer Hunter. From the pics I've seen of this knife I can't help but see a resembelance to the ZT0200. Not that they look alike, but rather in the build. The Dendra has the stout blade that is 4MM/.157" thick, 3.75" in length, full steel liners that appear to be very thick around the .080"s thick as the ZT0200's are, and sculpted G-10 handles. Now I am not talking about the ZT being copied as far as the two looking alike, rather that the Dendra has the same heavy duty build as the 0200. All of these dimensions suit me to a T as I really enjoy a heavy built, and well built folder, and my experience with LionSteel has been excellent.

What I'm interested in finding out is how well have these knives held up since they hit the market, especially the Deer Hunter. Also I am not asking about a comparsion between the Deer Hunter and the Contego as it is the Deer Hunter I have set my sight on as my next buy. The Contego will probably come as the next buy.

Thanks for any help you may give.:)

I have a Dendra Tiger Jump. The detent sucks ( to light) other than that its a great knife. Doesnt flip very good so takes a little wrist to open because of lack of detent.

I have a Deer Hunter that was purchased almost a year ago, from when they first started showing up at various Internet knife dealers.

The quality control on the liner-lock action is a mixed bag with these.

The one that I have has to have the pivot loosened quite a bit in order to open it via the flipper tab opener or the thumb studs.

(It came from the dealer with the pivot tightened all the way down, so that it was impossible to open without any adjustment.)

However, I have seen reviews on Youtube where they were without any of these problems.

I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it yet. Part of the problem is that one side of the handle is pinned , not screwed together.

I currently have it set aside to re-bevel the edge, as there is a weird dip in the front part of the edge.
