Dennis Riley is a name I ocassionally stumble across. I rarely see his knives any more. Is he still an active knifemaker? Is he just making the local Arkansas show circuit? Does he participate in the ABS?

What do you know about him and his knives? Comments in general?

THANKS!

Dennis and I had tables next to each other at the SOS show in Mesquite back in September. He was very involved with pursuing his bladesmithing credentials, so I'd guess he's busy making the required blades. His knives were outstanding and very popular at the show. Besides that, I'd say he's very personable and I really enjoyed visiting with him.

Never met the man, and haven't had the chance to see his knives up close, but the pictures I have seen show some of the nicest damascus.

I consider Dennis Riley as one of these "bang for the buck"-Makers.
Great knives for the price!
I have a nice damascus bowie with stag handle from KnifeArt.com by Dennis. After receiving the knife I emailed him for some questions and he came back to me just the next day! BTW he was really happy that one his knives made it as far as Switzerland...

It seems that KnifeArt.com always have a good stock of his knives.

They have just updated his page with some gorgeous pieces!

I have four of Dennis's knives and am obviously pleased with his work. He does beautiful damascus, but I have a forged blade also. His fit and finish are excellent. He was awarded his Journeyman rating at the last ABS show, and I fully expect him to win his Mastersmith rating also.

Dennis posts fewer knives here now that he has his own web site. Look him up at: http://www.rileycustomknives.com/

If one of you don't buy that lovely damascus Bowie on his home page soon, I'll add it to my growing Riley collection!:D

He's also got a knife or two up on e-bay from time to time. I bought a Scagel style hunter from him and it just got here today. I also have the camp knife in the Scagel style from him and they both fit like I was there as he was profiling the handles.

I need to save up for one of his damascus blades, also I like the hog ivory hunters.
