Have some dents I need to fix :o

no creases or paint damage but one is 6" in size

Are any of the dent repair kits worth trying? Any brands better than others?

no creases or paint damage?? try using a plunger. i have pulled out many dents with them

Ice cubes/crushed ice in the dent will often cause it to pop out as the center of the dent contracts from the cold, and the ice treatment combined with a plunger works really well.

I recently bought a 13 inch diameter, six foot long reflector telescope with a thin steel tube that arrived with a UPS handling dent about the size of half of a large egg. I applied the ice and reached into the tube with my fingers to push on the dent from the inside at the same time. Ha! One very audible 'pop' and no more dent, can't even see where it was.

Pops-A-Dent, which is sold at a lot of Auto Parts stores, actually worked pretty well on a few largeish but shallow dents in my car. At least well enough that they were less of an eyesore and livable until I could afford to get the car in to the shop.

It's the system where you use a hot glue gun to mount a screw-threaded piece to the middle of the dent, then use the padded bar to leverage it while slowly cranking down the thumb screw.

They're dirt cheap, too. I think mine cost $14. I figured it would be worth trying before a trip to the bodyshop, and was surprised with the results.

The suction cups also work well, but the ones I've seen are only 4" wide, and they take a lot of tries to pull most of the dent out. I'm going to try out Hung-Solo's plunger idea next time.

Pops a dent. We have a couple at work, they work great. It always took between 80% and 95% of the dent away. Easy to use, well worth trying.

Can you also use it to beat the stuffing out of the MF that dings your doors?:grumpy:

Ice is widely used in auto body shops. So is spraying CO2 through a small tube to cool the center area of the dent. I'd never tried it until this telescope tube dent I mentioned in my initial post to this thread. I was surprised how quickly it worked.
