Dentent on CRKT M16 is too strong. Can I fix it?

I have had my CRKT M16-13Z for almost 2 years now. I really like the knife and have used it a bunch. However, the detent is ridiculously strong. I figured that it would break in over time but it hasn't. I have opened it so many times that I know that its not going to just break in. I have other CRKT M16s but non of them are this strong. It is so bad that any friend who picks up the knife can't figure out how to open it because they think that it must have some sort of safety or something on it. However, there are two upsides to the detent. First, I know that it will never open accidentally. Second, when it finally does open it comes out super fast. I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem? Is there a way to fix it? I guess I would rather have too strong of a detent than too loose, so I'm not too worried about it. I just wanted to see if there are any solutions that I could try.

I have tried that. All it does is give it blade play but doesn't help the detent. The detent ball looks like it is sticking out a little farther than a normal knife. Would it help to lightly tap it in a little farther?

If you know what you are doing, you could try.

You could sand the detent ball down a little. If you try that, I would suggest focusing only on the small section where the detent ball interfaces with the hole in the blade tang. Otherwise you might make the surface a little too rough to slide smoothly on the blade while opening.

Try Youtube, there are a number of vids on that problem. Then proceed with caution!
