Deployment OCD?

I have this thing where my knife has to deploy perfectly before I can
use it. So if I'm opening an envelope and I go to flick my knife open
with one hand and it doesn't lock up, or doesn't give a healthy "thwack!"
I actually close the knife and start again. And I also do this thing where
if I'm cutting multiple envelopes/packages, I close the knife and then open it again for
the next cut rather then just leave it open on my table or something.
Any of you guys do this or should I seek professional help? :D

We'll need to know what knife is being used during this behavior to better diagnose what's going on.

Definitely do this alot. I will actually catch myself, and think, why not just leave it open, and set it aside?
But then I think, no that's unsafe.

I have thought about getting a small (3 inch or smaller) fixed blade.
But, then that would start the whole, should I leave it sheathed
or unsheathed mental debate.

You must be weird. ;)
Reminds me of someone who posted recently that they like to fondle their knives while sitting on the edge of the bathtub with hot water running on their back, or some such business.

When you carry a Spartan, it could be quite fun... BTW, when the passaround is over, I'm going to grind a bit off the top of the blade to give the wave more room to deploy.
