That's a sweet lookin' pup. I didn't know you had a dog Yangdu but I'm glad to see that there's a security system in place for the shack.

Peace

The more I see that model, the more I love it. It's an all business beauty. It looks likes a cold war era sexy female Russian spy in a black evening dress. Gorgeous from afar and dangerously intimidating up close and personal.

It looks equally at home hanging over your mantle or lopping off goblin limbs. The Deradune appears to be the epitome of sultry function:D:cool:

I may have to cave on one of these one day. Man, those look sweet:thumbup:

Email sent on dog. :D

I wonder how much the shipping would be?

Seriously good looking dog but it looks as if there is a lot of Tibetan Mastiff mixed in with the 'German' especially looking at that curly tail and head set. ;) :D

Really like the curvature of the grip on the Khuk as well.

E-mail sent to Yangdu (on the Deradune - not the dog). This'll be my first khukuri. I'm psyched.

I can't wait. I like how clean and smooth this one looks. And reading about Himalayan Imports, the kamis, and the troubles in Nepal, I feel that there is so much good Karma heaped on these blades. I was at first concerned about the horn handle, but it sounds like if I take good care of it, it'll take good care of me.

The horn handles don't bother me, although and if they do fail they can be replaced later on down the road with a material of your choosing. Good score...

Congratulations on your new and first khuk Maniacal Pete! Oh the thrill of opening that first triangular box:thumbup:. May you have a long and happy time together, and let us know your thoughts after you've had a chance to use it.

Peace

Thanks!

It's beautiful - 18.75", 36 oz, great sheath.
Pretty much perfect in every way, I can't wait to use it.
From the looks of it, it is begging to be used; all business...
I'll post some photos as soon as I can.

Just got my (this DOTD) Deradune today. All I have to say is WOW. This is my first khuk and I couldn't believe how substantial it is. It's an absolute beauty that shows that it was clearly made using only hand tools, but that Tirtha Kami used those tools with the utmost skill to make this wonderful blade. The only flaws (and I don't think I would really consider them flaws, considering the nature of the thing) are some cracks in the handle of the karda, but I'll probably just squeeze some zap-a-gap in them and call it a day. I just imagine what I would have thought a year or two ago if someone suggested to me to buy a large knife made in a small dirt floor shop in Nepal from a junked truck spring using nothing but hand tools and glued together with tree sap (and possibly powdered dung), but it would be something to the effect of, pass me whatever you're smoking.

I can't wait for the weather to be nicer. I love the heft, I love the balance, I love the beauty, I love the pressence of it. Underbrush, beware!
