I can't find anything on the Internet other than on Instagram his daughter said he passed away from a brain aneurysm. Kniveshipfree is a fantastic company and I'm very sad for the loss today that his family is going through.

Derrick was kind to me during his kids for knives program giving me one for each of my children even though I have 3 he wanted to make sure each one was covered. The passion he showed was infectious to teach and continue the next generation into the steel craft.

Seems to be a rough year lately we've lost some greats, this being one of them.

It started out in General and was moved. A sticky link to community would be helpful for a couple days and then a mod could delete it.

My first thought when I read this was... this must be a sick joke. Derrick is a young man as far as normal lifespans go.

There is a redirect on page 2 of GKD. It will continue to fall as redirects aren't bumped..but these types of threads belong in Community.
