I recently acquired an odd (odd to me) knife and wanted to inquire about it. It is a folding knife with a long blade. The blade is longer than the handle, extending past the handle when closed. It looks like it could be used as a medium sized knife when closed and a large knife when opened. What is this type of knife called. I can post pics tomorrow if anyone is interested. It is a cheap knife made in Pakistan. Thanks.

Once I see it I'll know...but I thinks it's called a P.O.S. Hope you can post a pic.

I had one made by a company called Hubertus a while back. It was a stag handled lever lock that fits your description. I have no idea what it was actually called though, that style of knife is made by a few companies. :)

Edit:

I Just did a quick check and it seems I had what they call a "folding boar knife".

Wouldn't a pcture be much simpler? This kind of description, "knife that folds with a blade, handle on oe side and pointy on the other" doesn't make for good discussions.

"Folding Bowie."

Folding Bowie it is! Image search on google came up with some that are very similar, will post pics later in the day for all non-believers! I am away from home and was looking over some posts when it came to mind, unfortunately I don't have the knife with me.

I had a knife like this when i was 14ish . Have the scar on my thumb today just as a reminder to myself 17 years later . Cutting a large pace of wood and all most to the bone with it . fingernail cut in 2 . How having a dad would have helped me . But i have not cut my finger like that agin . not my fav ! LOL

Looks like a cheap knock-off of an old Case XX "folding machete." Nice sheath, though. My dad brought this one back from Vietnam:

I think these originated from the Iberian peninsula, "Spain" there were some WWII made versions for Paratroopers etc. Like the case Model Derek posted. Don't know who made yours? I don't think it's a military issued.
