The Desert Dagger has always been one of my favorites. Was it's design influenced by the Fairbairn/Sykes/Applegate daggers?

Best,

Chris

Great pic!
I can see some of the classic lines in the Desert Dagger. I'd like to get one of the limited edition leather handled ones...:D

Yojimbo: Nice equipment you got there. And the picture is great too. User or strictly collector? On second thoughts, you best be saying nothing.

TheSkinwalkeR: Yeah, there's nothing more comforting and sweet than the smooth, silky feel of freshly tanned leather.

Bobby B: Whoa, now. Down boy, downnnn...

Krizzard, out.

I didnt give it a look today (being in a frenzy to examine my new feild knife). The price should be pretty reasonable as was my recon bowie wich I recall came to about 200 bucks with tax. I got the Pentagon elite there for 49.95 I remember, wich was excellent. I think I recall the dagger being within the first hundred serialed like my Recon, I will find out the price soon and tell you.

I gotta give a shout out for this shop www.plazacutlery.com . They are the only mall cutlery store I have been to that had not grossly exagerated the prices of thier merchandise. I have yet to find something there that was above retail...and almost all was considerably under and even competitive with internet prices. They are family owned and freindly. The people who work there are always happy to show me whatever I want and they even recommend other people (thier competitiors) when they cannot find what I want. It is rare to find a business that cares enough about customer satisfaction to direct them towards a different retailer. I used to have great animosity for the mall cutlery store, these people have been quite a change from what I am used to. Same sorta experience I have with SOG themselves. I put a lot of stock in the human element of what I do, I have huge respect for good products represented by good people.

Yojimbo....

Great photo. I have been into knives for my whole life. My father, who is my best of friends, has actuallly just got into them. He has a affinity for daggers and tantos and has himself a SOG Tsunami to placate his tanto addiction, but he talks often of his apreciation for the desert dagger. I wont be suurprised if he has his own quite soon. Great tomahawk too! I grew up in wilds of Colorado waching mountain men at the Uncompadre Fort throw those things into playingcards stuck to stumps.

I agree. I was goin for a serious fighting knife when I got the recon and the leather handle was one of my prerequisites. I wanted something that felt natural in my hand, as if I had actually sprouted a steel claw with wich to defend myself. The Recon was definaely that, sinister forward swept blade with something that reminds me of SOG's current Shark's Tooth tip. The stacked leather handle is my favorite of the natural handles. :)
