Desert E's different dimensions

Was there a slight modification done to the desert SH-E design from the original? My desert SH is slightly longer, and the handle is slightly smaller up top behind the choil. It won't fit into either of the sheaths that I have for the original SH.

But seriously, I haven't measured my desert E's to my reg. NO, SH and BM....I wonder if they are all different.

Last night I got out my desert and regular SH-Es and held them right up against each other... same length and overall dimensions to my eye... sure there were some very slight differences due to what I would guess was hand finishing, but nothing major.

Dwayne, I wouldn't worry about dimensions for sheaths. At least both my knives would fit into the same sheath.

My desert NO won't fit into my standard NO sheath. A while back I had ordered a sheath from one of our renowned makers for my SH-E. the sheath was molded on a SH-E the maker had but my SH would not fit it. I guess each knife has it's own little personality

I think that you are right. Although these are "production" knives enough hand finishing goes into them that there are subtle differences from knife to knife.

Thats good to hear, I always add a little freeplay to my sheaths in order to take up any differences in size ever since I learned about the variances. Thanks to all who responded!!
