Hello all, has anyone noticed how fast the cost of DIB is getting? It seems it's gone up by atleast 25% just in the last year. It's becoming to be a one shop burl for a specific project ( atleast for some of us). Ive heard alot of the Dib is starting to come from shady sources.
Any opinions?? Any source related concerns? I have a couple of dealers I trust, but the " high end "ones are hitting $65+.
Thank you-Mark

All I can say about Desert Ironwood is I want to try it, and it is out of my miserly price range. I can never justify to myself buying a piece when I can get two pieces of Redwood burl for the same price.

Almost all desert ironwood is "shady" these days, but some comes from old, private stashes when it was legal to import from Mexico. Mexico has not allowed the export of raw desert ironwood for several years. There is a smuggling network, however.

I try to buy it up when I can..I love it, my favorite knife wood..It has a beautiful chatoyance and is tough as can be..Sadly,I only expect the price to go up..

not sure if my reply posted, but i have a good dib source in eastern tn. we also have lingum vitea burl, honduran rosewood burl, snake wood, olive wood. feel free to contact me.
