Howdy,
Well I finally got my Desert Tan Izula…excellent little knife. This is my first Rat Cutlery blade and I noticed that the blades are laser etched. I didn’t want to worry about rust in these areas so I used gun bluing. It really makes the “decals” stick out and makes it easier on maintenance. I know, this threat is useless without pics, but I only know how to put pictures in my albums and not in my posts…sorry.

That's a good idea and I just did the same to mine. I'll try to take some pics tomorrow, indoor night pics never turn out well for me. The bluing really shows up well against the desert tan.

I'm sure many of you have used cold blue before, but fwiw here's what I did.

1. Wipe down the logos with denatured alcohol to clean and remove any oil.
2. Using a q-tip dab some cold blue (I used Birchwood Casey Super Blue) on the logos.
3. Wait a minute or so, then wipe down the logos with a wet cloth (water neutralizes the acidic cold blue). I repeat with another wet cloth to make sure I get all of it.
4. Dry the blade.
5. Wipe down with Eezox or rust protectant of your choice.

:D

I prefer Photobucket.com over Imageshack...find it easier to use and links are given to you for hosting.

If you want Robo7de, you can email me your pictures or a link to your album, and I'll put them up here.

The micarta soaked up the Eezox a little around where I was wiping down the logos.
