Eric at one time mentioned that all of the Desert Jack's came with a penetrator tip.

But, my DJ clearly does NOT have a penetrator tip. So, ???????????????
I have seen some pics of other Desert Jacks that appeared to have penetrator tips and a few that appeared to not have penetrator tips.
I have never hear the term "long relief" used on the Swamp Rat Chat forum. My guess is the "long relief" was added by the forumite seller as a marketing term.
Further, it seems very possible for anybody to add a penetrator tip and you would not know if it was factory or modded. Or similarly, for someone to modify (elongate ????) a factory penetrator tip to something they describe as a "long relief" tip.
I have added a penetrator tip before. It is a VERY simple mod with a belt sander and very little belt sander skill or practice.
The modified tip is easy to add, but very hard to remove.
Truthfully, I don't feel the value is really affected much by whether or not a Swamp Rat does or doesn't have the Penetrator tip.
If the price is good, the DJ is a very nice knife!
The DJ is similar to the RMD, but with a slightly longer, more slender blade and with a slightly different handle.
For a user, I personally prefer the RMD. The taller handle and shorter blade length offer better control and the handle just feels a little better in various grips for use. But, they are both nice.
As a collectible, the DJ is very nice looking - especially when stripped!
Aesthetically, I feel the Desert Jack might be the most appealing "looking" Swamp Rat made.
