Desert Rose with "bloody" wood :)

steel - D2 / 4.0 mm [5/32"]
length - 289 mm [11.378"]
blade - 152 mm [5.984"]
handle - stainless steel, bronze, fiber, stabilized amboina burl
sheath - leather

Just a gorgeous large skinner! Plus beautiful packaging of the sheath to the handle. Brilliant!

You sure grind nice, Marcin !
Great looking knife/sheath combo, thanks for sharing.

Doug

When I saw the name Desert Rose, I thought of someone else's knives (Tai Goo has done a number of knives under the name Desert Rose, I think); They are rather rustic, so when I saw your knife I was surprised. It's a super smooth and clean piece, very nice!

THis ought to be the first entrant into the BB 2013 thread. LOL!

What a delight in curves and materials.

(Chuck Burrows, not Tai, goes under the moniker 'Desert Rose'. It's a great name for this knife.)

Props.

Coop

Does Chuck do Desert Rose too? I've frequently seen him refer to his work as Wild Rose, like on his Trading Post website. The collaborations I've seen that Chuck and Tai do have been called Wild Goo.

Bona, your dessert rose knife is classy. It sure is distinctly different than your copper series.

^^^ Phil and David: I stand corrected. LOL!

Back to the knife: I love that subtle recurve of the guard from a straight face. Little things that all add to more.

So much to admire here. Super clean look.
Love the guard from a materials and proportions perspective (the shape, as Coop points out, and the precise dimensions of the rings...WoW).
The shape and grind on that blade is so what I like...a rose it is.

This knife shows you can make a superb knife without damascus, or without hamon's. Just plain steel wonderfully ground coupled with a great guard and handle. I'd like to see this knife posted in shoptalk, I think it would be an inspiration to new makers.

Thank you, friends :)
I do my best.
This is my old model, but always looks fresh, in my opinion of course ;)

Beautiful.

I said it before and I will say it again: I really like the way you get your sheaths to match the handle material so good!

Kind regards,

Jos
