Desert Storm Fighter, circa 1988, 8" A2 blade, 13 3/4" oal, 3/16th thick & jet black parkerizing.

This is one of less than 10 which were flat ground, the remainder were hollow ground.

$225.00?!?!?! I'll take it. Send you the money tomorrow, thanks Scott!

You gotta wonder why it's the Desert Storm Fighter if it was released in '88 but the operation didn't kick off until '91. :p

My cousin was there for two years when it was still called Desert Shield. He got out before it turned into Desert Storm. I guess there was allot of prep work and mounting of forces before they decided to roll.

Yeah... I was on the ground for operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Southern Watch and a few others. In all, I was in theater for around 18 months during that period. However, the fact remains, Desert Shield kicked off in late '90, Desert Storm kicked off '90/'91, and the ground war kicked off in '91. '88 was too early to name a knife the "Desert Storm" Fighter if the name was a reference to those operations.

I too am curious due to the timing. The best I could figure was one of two things.

1) Most were purchased by servicemen prior to Desert Storm and the name just sort of stuck to them since that is the major op that they saw use in

or

2) Jerry may have made them circa 88, but that doesn't mean he sold them all until 90-91.

I am betting that the name just stuck to them, but what do I know.

One day I will get one for the collection.

I would have sworn that the dates were in the late 88-89 time frame, but as I am writing this I realize that spearhead is right......I almost went right in after highschool in 89, and he was stationed in Germany for a short while, so the late 90's are right!

I will never argue/doubt spearhead again!!!!!!! :D

Actually, due to the overwhelming popularity of our "Desert Storm" Fighter throughout the late '80's the name was pirated from us by the U.S. Military and the ensuing war was in turn called "Operation Desert Storm" . . . . . this was not the first time this had happened. . . .Our 1979 model called the "Urgent Fury" was likewise, the namesake given to the invasion of Grenada in 1983. . .

My great grandfather had manufactured two knives right after the Civil War in the late 1800's called the "World War I" and the "World War II". . . . Needless to say, these two names were stolen from us as well. . . .

Don't be surprised when we wade into Iran and kick their asses in "Operation Badger Attack" . . . They did consider "Operation Groove Master" but were afraid that it didn't have the proper "zing".

I knew it.....I knew that the Military (or World Press) couldn't come up with such "catchy" names on their own. ;)
