All this talk of Iraq and then seeing the NO that Jerry posted has got me to thinking as to what would be the best Desert survival blade.Common sense tells you a few things first such as ,I probably wont be doing much tree chopping, and prob no fish fileting. However its possible that I may have to dig ,pry,or stab(although not likely).I also would like the handles to be desert tan, with a blk coated blade, and possibly a drop leg tan kydex sheath to keep it out of my web gears way.Two knives have come to mind with small modifications,#1 my fav the SJ except with a symm grind, tan handles and a penetrater tip,and possibly a band breaker on the spine.#2 would be a NO with a symm grind, tan handles, penetrator tip and a sharpened upper, the only other mod I would make for me would be to either slim down the handles in width or drill holes under tha handle slabs to reduce weight and to make the blade more heavy.I also would have some sheath concerns such as a large enuff hole on the tip of the kydex to allow sand and debris to escape, and to have an add on sheath option for survival gear like a lighter, small tube of sun tan oil and twine,or flashlight. What would your picks be?
