Does anyone out there know where I could score come khaki or "desert tan" canvas micarta? I got some of Texas Knifemaker's Supply's "antique gold" linen micarta but it's literally orange and therefore no good to me.

Thanksmy page

J.P. .....Hi, I've been using antique gold since it came out and have never seen it any shade other than a nice creamy colour similar to aged ivory. You say yours is orange? I'd check that you didn't receive something else other than antique gold.

Yeah, the stuff I have is linen based and a bright butterscotch color leaning towards orange. I have to correct myself, it's from Koval's not Texas Knifemaker's Supply. The stuff from TKS is probably the right color.

Are you sure that is not just the surface color of the unworked Micarta? Tan Micarta has a much different color after you start grinding on it.

J.P., it sounds to me that you have what is actually called butterscotch micarta. I have a few pieces of it and it is exactly as you describe, except mine is paper based. The antique stuff I have seen is as kraut describes. Are you sure you were shipped the right stuff? Or, is this just a difference in advertising and description by TKS or the manufacturer of the micarta in question? You might want to give TKS a call.

It's a nice color, and I'll use it on something, it's just not what I was looking for. I'm going to try Sheffield's "natural" canvas micarta which looks like more of a sandy color.
