I saw a Camillus MKII on a dealer's website that was supposed to be in the desert camo, but they didn't have an actual photo. Can anyone get a photo of one of these up? Is the blade coating a tan parkerized, or some other kind of finish and what does the sheath look like? Thanks!

Mudflap,
All of the metal parts are coated with tan epoxy powdercoat. It comes in the brown leather sheath. Kinda cool;)

That is definitely cool! Another knife on the "buy" list. Thank you for the reply Mr. Fennell!

Fudo,
Anytime you do a small, specialty run, it costs more. We do thousands of the standard sheaths, and blades with the standard black coating, but get the coating vendor, or the sheath guy, to do a few hundred in a different color, and even with the coating being the same "cost", its going to cost CAMILLUS more in set-ups, and the lost volume discounts.

Also, the DESERT SERIES have a coating on the scales to give them the appropriate color.....and that cost extra.

If cost is a factor, the standard knives give all the performance at the great low cost;)

BTW, here is a pic off the CAMILLUS website....

Thanks for the explanation, Will. I wasn't being accusatory, I was asking because I didn't know. It was a good lesson in manufacturing economics.Have you got a great scan of the desert tan MK II like the one you posted above?
BTW-your response made me think of another question. Are you saying that the desert tan BK&T's and the MK II's will be runs of only a few hundred? If so, I need to get my order in for the ones I don't have yet. I have the Desert C/U7. I posted my comments a few days ago.

So, does that mean that, if this tan color is as popular as the "standard" that your will then be able to order "thousands" instead of "hundreds" and therefore the tan will, eventually, be the same price as the black ones?? And, are you also saying that, whoever it is that does your "thousands" of "standard" color knives and sheaths find themselves unable to cut you slack on the knives and sheaths that are only produced in the "hundreds"? Will?

My wife is going to order the BK#10-1 (or BK#101, the Camillus site has one number, 1 Stop another) today. If all goes well and 1 Stop has them in stock and ships fast, I should it have it by the time we leave for camping Thursday PM.

I'm really looking forward to getting this knife. I've heard nothing but good about BK&T knives.

Thanks,

Albin
