This is a sheet of Richlite Maple. I haven't used this variety, but I have used black diamond once, and really liked working with it.





I doubt anyone will guess my (subtle) homage towards which knife?
 
Crag, I’ve used Richlite Maple on a few knives. I like it, a lot. With a wet sand of 600-1200 grit and a coat of carnuba wax, looks great. Here’s an example,

Nice!!! Do you have any older pics of them, used? I'm assuming they darken to a good, warm brown.....

I really like the stuff. They say it's like paper micarta, but I disagree. The black diamond really worked and looked very much like ebony, to me
 
I like Richlite, too. The result of recycling cardboard type material with resin, which I admire- being an environmentalist type person. I find it's very susceptible to heat, so sharp belts are a must.

I'm not an expert with exotic woods, but I have used ebony a few times. The black diamond Richlite, to me seemed very much like it. Both in looks and feel. In fact I was a little worried about shipping it to Europe. Maybe it doesn't matter, but I didn't want them thinking it was a protected species. *It made it, arrived ok.
 
It’s a cool looking knife. Something I’d use in the kitchen but could be a belt carry knife as well.
