I like your style Crag, wandering where you are going with this build.
Crag, I’ve used Richlite Maple on a few knives. I like it, a lot. With a wet sand of 600-1200 grit and a coat of carnuba wax, looks great. Here’s an example,

I like Richlite, too. The result of recycling cardboard type material with resin, which I admire- being an environmentalist type person. I find it's very susceptible to heat, so sharp belts are a must.
It’s a cool looking knife. Something I’d use in the kitchen but could be a belt carry knife as well.
I know someone that runs a food truck and I bet he’d be all over it!
