When I first made this design a friend named it "butt ugly bowie" because that was his opinion of the thing. I intentionally left forging marks on the flats and did a hand sand on the grind thinking it would make a nice contrast. I thought that I might even sell one or two in spite of my friend's critique. It has become a very popular knife and I keep getting orders...but what do I know I am just the knife maker.
This one will go out to a customer this week who asked me to post it here.

There's nothing ugly about that knife. I see artistry and craftsmanship, but nothing ugly!:thumbup::thumbup:

I'd be willing to bet it's a heckuva performer as well.

Tahnks Gerry for posting the pic.

Now for a story. Several months ago I contacted Mr. Drew to have him make me one of his integral guard camp knives like one he had posted in the sales forum. I wanted a 5 inch blade and a continuous sweep to the edge, and desert ironwood handle scales. When I recieved the knife he had nailed it. Not only with exceptional design but execution fit and finish as well. Unfortunately I can't post pics(I don't even own a camer).

I was so impressed with that knife (and still am). That I immediately commissioned one of his less than ugly bowies. And look at the beauty he came up with. This knife will be a peasure in the hand I am sure. Just can't wait till it gets here.

That's one of my favorite knives that you make.....the bigger, the better and I hope to have one some day. :)

Just recieved the knife today. This blade does indeed sing in the hand. I weighed it and it weighs 17 ounces, yet in hand it feels like it weighs much less. It moves fluidly and very well.

These knives have to be held to be believed.

I love the guard and choil. . . in spite of its length it should be quite versatile with a forward grip. Great job.
