Design similarity between Heat and Cuda Dominator?

I had a heat years ago, long gone but recently I have begun to look for them.

When I was searching for the knife I stumbled upon old stock Cuda Dominator blade blanks. These are S30V.

The design of the two knives seems very similar, is it possible that the Cuda Dominator blade could be swapped into the Heat? The blades are both listed at 3.65", and the stop pins seem to be located in the same spot.

The main difference is that the Cuda is a frame-lock, do you think that the Heat's liner lock could engage the Cuda blade securely?

I guess there is only one sure way to find out(short of contacting D. Ralph).

You're right. There's really only one way to know for sure. But, the lockup tolerances have to be perfect (or very nearly so). I'm betting, even if you can actually mount the blade in the handle, it'll probably won't match up between the lockbar & blade tang.

This thread caught my eye, because I have one of the Ti Cuda Dominator knives with S30V blade. My gripe is, even with the blade that was installed in it from the factory, it's lockup is very loose. It RATTLES with the blade open & 'locked'. On the upside, however, the locking bar is by far the stoutest I've seen. Takes some real 'grunt' to disengage it, which is OK by me.

I bought a couple of the S30V blade blanks I found on eBay a few years ago, with the hope of (one day) swapping one or both of them into my knife handle, to see if either of them fit any better. If so, I'll then be tasked with putting a brand new edge on the blade blank. Sort of a daunting prospect, but I'll work up the nerve to try it eventually.
