So it's come to this. Collecting anything makes zero logical sense, but I've heard a round of golf can set you back $150 easy, so if spending that on your DOC (Dumb Object of Choice) a few times a month rings your bell, whose to question us?
I really need to offload a lot of blades though, and mostly because I find myself gravitating toward one EDC though I have a safe full of blades. After I manage to make some videos for my new URL and Channel I have to pare it down to stuff I might pretend like I am going to eventually use, and the only real heavy hitter I haven't given a try is the Para 3.
I expect that after offloading the rest of the collection sans "Holy Trinity" or "Grail" knives I will have enough to pimp out a Para 3 any way I want to. And as an added incentive to post here, when my media starts making me so rich I can buy and sell pet tigers daily, I will give the configuration we come up with here away as a giveaway.
I'm not going to mention anything about that because I'm sure it would give the mods hemorrhoids, but I'm sure you guys can dream up something great. I'm going for a steel that is durable and stainless, with 12-13 degrees per side, so no chippy stuff. Talk to me about pocket clips that won't chew up pants, nice scales, compression locks, whatever else you can dream up.
Obviously this is an exercise in overthinking and I'm sure a S110v in "blurple" is probably the obvious choice, but a lot of you know about exotic stuff.... timascamokute, blades quenched in frozen hummingbird tongues, all that stuff.

Best Para 3 of all time- GO!

I am currently down to a little over a dozen Para 3s. Great knife and so easy to customize. No two of the same steel, unless in custom scales or one DLC vs. one Satin. Never a dull moment.

I am also a big fan of the Native 5 and the Shaman, though, the accumulation of those has not been quite as egregious.

PM2 20cv steel Tanto DLC

like this except 20cv

wowww right out of the gate, the cpm-15v? That's a bold claim, I'd love to have Big Chris send me one but wouldn't trust many to heat treat that steel. I was thinking M4 though I refuse to have a knife with DLC or other sht sprayed on the blade. Toughness, wear resistance, and ability to whittle hair isn't an easy combination to come up with so maybe I am going around in circles and just should be happy with s110V.
I like the squigglefancy factor with that fluted Ti though.
Nothing says "I use my knife once a month" like fancy anodization! Love it!

K390 with abalone scales and a timascus deep carry clip. Oh and maybe green ano standoffs/lanyard hole and Ti hardware.

My first para 3 will be here on Monday, a lightweight in Spy27.

Nice! I'm putting a few abalone damascus (mosaic colored damascus no less) on the classifieds soon from a well known Thai bladesmith. if that's your kink, hit me up, I'd definitely take part of it in a Para 3 if you have more than 1.

I think it's a good fit for a small nice looking folder.

I like M4 and I don't mind a bit of a patina forming.

Interesting idea, but if you really want toughness and wear resistance, s110v isn't really going to work... the toughness is quite low (at around 5 ft lbs)

much better balance of toughness and high wear resistance with cpm-m4 (and my gb2 with m4 doesn't have any DLC or sht sprayed on it)
(but you need to appreciate patina ; )

here is a recent toughness chart from @Larrin

Thanks! I think the real solution here is to stop at Walmart later and buy one in Z-finit with some timascus accents. Should I call the sporting goods section or just presume they have a few?
Being a ridiculous person, I kinda wrote off the SPY27 because it was compared with 440- as if that's a bad thing. 30 years ago I was gutting deer with a Spyderco rookie in ATS-34 without needing to resharpen and then the internet came along and said how bad that steel was. Thank goodness!

ats-34 is 154cm - good all around stainless, & always has been, esp the cpm version you can get now... (in fact my bladeforum 2018 buck is cpm154)

OK, I meant para 2.
Now, how does that change anyone's opinion?

Compression lock a must. Still S110V?

only if it's tactical 1095.
No, I can't do that. "as if thousands of dollars of sharpening stones suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced...."

went with s110v, but my great "deal" on the bay at around the $100 mark came with screws stripped and blade wobble.

I really didn't want to get into replacing screws right away, but its now a reality.
I should probably start a new thread asking about best screws. After 2000 or so, spyderco seems to have been making very soft screws.
My only knife for 10 years back in the 90's was a Rookie in ATS-55 , and the screws on it were subject to regular removal with bad tools but they still look brand new. ..
Guess I need to check out aftermarket sites, I hesitate to send it to Spyderco because I know they are going to whack me $40 or so for a nickel worth of screws.
They refused to sell them direct because in their words it supports "Clones and fakes" . That makes zero sense to me. I could understand not selling blades, but screws?
Anyway, if anyone has a suggestion on good replacement screws in something harder than what Spyderco offers please post or drop me a line.

A non-exclusive, non-sprint PM2 with micarta and a good, stainless steel, and a deep carry clip.

Wild, I know.

Perfection would be a paramitary 2 in M390 acid washed, contoured carbon fiber scales, ti stand offs/screws/ lanyard hole, and a ti deep pocket clip. Bonus points for anodizing, matching color in carbon fiber scales.
