Design time again

So I'm really behind on getting my hold spot filled for next month (which will all too soon be this month) and that's partly because I've been very logical and precise in my design process, it's also because all that logic (design X many, chose the best 3, make cut outs, make moderation, pick one, make alterations done and done) went to heck before it even got started, I've made, altered, remade and so on a hoard of very different and very similar designs.

Anyway I've got it down to 4 variations on the strongest theme to come through (there are 6 more of these I was finally able to throw out on the basis I couldn't remember why i made them) and before the doubts of "maybe I should just go back to the start" begin to win out again i wanted to posts hem up and kind of force my hand some. It doesn't help that I have a list of JK designs already burning a hole in my pocket (pocketmuk, kephart edc, CBK, compact survival, mostly) or that I'm really trying to save for a JK framelock.

Don't worry you don't have to chose them or anything, although all thoughts are always appreciated :). Also I haven't been doing much but getting on here and leaving comments in quick drive by visits so thought it was time for some more substance

So here you go, all four "final, final" design choices and the JKTK number 1 trying to help me out,

1)A 6" mini wharncliff kinda do-dad, it's 3/4 high but it has a downward "kink" to it so it would have to be made from 1" stock

2)A bigger version (this is the handle from a design I had a while ago with my new blade pattern obsession (go on, guess ;)) I've had to play a lot with ti to make it comfortable, inspired in part by the JK CBK and pocketmuk actually. around 7" overall, 1" high

3)Different handle on the same theme, 7" or there abouts (I've been free handling and using the ruler less, makes for some interesting measurements in these final cutouts)

4)Finally, and most recently, and again a different handle, those one would be just over 7", 1" high blade but the handle ends earlier making it a good downward cutting tool, but stopping short of being a roach belly type

I've been leaning towards number 1 for a while but i think that's because number 4's too new, and I like that number 4's handle shape is a little simpler, of course my wife picked out number 3 and so did the JKTK when I spun it in the center of all three :)

Anyway, that's how I've been filling in my time when the kids are asleep and other such minutes,

Here's a picture of the JK baby kephart to make it all more interesting ;p

I like #3 the best of the 4, but if it were for me, I'd think the necks are too narrow - fill that bottom curve in about 1/8" and it will visually balance the swell on the handle better IMHO.

I like number 4 the most. It is slightly less curvy, in the handle, and looks like it would be more comfortable to use.

Thanks for the input, I can see what you mean, I think I'm leaning that way, ummmm, getting closer though :p

Having held Cooper's Hawk in my hand, I would say just have than handle put on any blade you pick.

I like the sharper wharncliffe design with the rounded spine, but since it is a wharnie, I would see if Mr. K could put a "penetrator" tip on it ala' Busse Combat.

Nice looking designs. I wish I had a little talent.

I like the simplicity of the #2 handle, but I think I would fatten up the narrow section a bit. I also like the idea of starting with 1" stock and ending up with something between 3/4"-7/8" since this will be a pocket carried knife.

This looks the most comfortable to me. I think it will be a great design for a working knife. I find this blade shape to be the best all-round cutter.
