Mine would be
3in stonewashed drop point blade in CPM S35V.
4in handle with G10 scales and finger grooves and lanyard hole.
Spring assisted opening with steel liner lock, with the flipper doubling as a finger guard when blade is open.
Gimping on spine of the handle.
Four way deep carry titanium pocket clip in satin bronze with matching torx screws.
The back spacer would be removable and have a small ferro rod concealed within for fire starting.

Why 4 options for the clip if you probably only have one choice of carrying the knife.
If you’re designing it for yourself, you only need the option that suits you, I think.

Because it's just as good to have different carry position options as it is to have different knife options?

I've been working on it for a while, now. Can't figure out how to make the lock mechanism fit together properly.

After the late, great CM passed, design work on the pocket folding halberd with quad triad locks stopped, and I don't think it will ever happen.

The only knife I've ever made was carved from a block of cheddar cheese. I called it the nomnomzaan.

Title says: Design YOUR ideal knife.
‘He’s answer: MINE Would be…
I was just wondering if he will need 4 options for the clip. Most people only need one.
He is not designing knife for general public, it’s a hypothetical project for personal use, I guess…
Anyway, I’m more interested of his point of view, but thank you for your insight

Spyderco Police 4 with contoured and textured titanium handles and carbon fiber or micarta inlays, frame or liner lock, CRK smooth washer action, and Magnacut steel.

Actually, something close to the Cheburkov Raven - a knife I have never been in the position to buy when available.

I already designed and made my ideal camp/woods knife. One day I'll venture into folders.

More specifically,

Modified wharncliffe blade, 3/16 stock, 3" cutting edge, no choil, no flipper, no jimping. Thumb disk for deployment, please.

If I had to go stainless for some reason, it would probably be AEB-L. 52100 with the 3+3 heat cycle would be my first choice. Convex zero chisel grind, just to be different. Also because my freehand sharpening sucks, and I'm pig-headed.

5/32 stainless liners, and micarta slabs. I would want more than one pair (brown canvas, black, and safety orange), so I could swap among them.

If I went with an existing locking mechanism, it would be the Demko Lock.

Paddle-style pocket clip, something like the old CRKT/Lightfoot M1. Right hand, tip-up is all I need: keeps it tucked against the pocket.

Handle shape could be very close to the Laconico Jasmine: looks good, takes good care of your hand.

I'm still waiting for mine. A CPM Cruwear Endura in FRN at whatever specs Spyderco has been using for their heat treat.

Hmmm. I've been using the long-pull nail nick on my Barlow as a one-hand opener, so I wouldn't really need the disk.

I'm thinking too hard about this. Maybe.
