Design your own Busse

I keep thinking how cool it would be if the Busse website had an app where you could design your own ultimate Busse knife.

You could pick out of every blade and handle type ever offered, steel, thickness, color and finish... everything.

If I could, I think I would make a MOA Boom Parang BG. 24" blade with a 12" handle. SR-101 steel at .220 thickness. Satin finish with Maroon Mic.

So if you had access to a design your own Busse app, what would you make?

Who knows, maybe Jerry will like some of our ideas and/or maybe he would enjoy some input into what folks are thinking.

I understand that Jerry is the ultimate master at Blade design, but it is always good to know what your clients really desire.

I have a hunter hawk design that has been floating around in my head for a couple years. Chop, skin, slice

Thats a great idea. I do design my own Busse knives. I do it on CAD lol. There are lots of free downloads out there. You can find the drawings or pictures online, cut and paste accordingly. It is quite interesting. I am partial to the ASH 1 handle on a TGLB blade.

I have a Cad thing going on in my head, lol. I never really appreciated handle design untill I held my Ratweiler I received recently. It is sooo nice.

I got to agree with you there. I got mine yesterday and its a beast. Love the handle. Its unique but feels like it was made for me. Great design. I see that one being a favorite personally. Kind of wished I would have gotten two of them now.

Im with you on the Rat. I never expected I would like it so much, more than even my ASH 2 and at half the price Im kicking myself for not getting the .220 version also.

ASH1 blade; TAC handle. Sketched it out, and looks great.

3B2 is close. :)

I have a dagger set im in the midst of drawing up. Big one and matching smaller one calling it. Busse Assult Dagger Ambidextrous Stealth Slicer. Or BADASS for short!!

BATAC blade on Boss Jack handle, no choil (not even a sharpening choil) with a nice palm swell in the scales (think TGLB). That there is a great camp knife IMO!

the Ash 1 on a TGLB handle would be pretty nice too, I like that idea.

I'd just get some classic designs (like kephart) in thin Infi.

I already did this, but since Busse does not do custom designs, I went to my friend John Kiedasich, of JK Handmade Knives -

My design was for a robust, Busse-like knife that would be indestructible, but also built to my own design specifications.

John has some limits to size, based on the size of his heat-treat oven, so we pushed the limit and came up with the JK XD XT Modern Bowie -

Jerry knows who JK is - he used to go by Stomper here on the forum, and he still has his own forum.

You, sir, are a man of refined taste.

MOATG at .375 thick 16-17" long with 2.25" wide blade
Or a Baby Butaniku at .26 thick with a 22" blade
And best of all....13asic 13! But it's been designed several times over.

13 inch bowie. Wide blade, radical distal taper starting at 5/16th at the guard, or a tic more., drawn swede/top clip. Maybe even harpoon style.

Full guard. Full flat grind to convex edge (thin).

11.5" BGFBMLE, .25" thick, full height grind, convex edge, hand shaped linen micarta scales.
