Contest time. Break out your pencil and paper you get to design your very own sheath for whichever Fiddleback model you own.

I'll let this run til next Sunday before picking a winner. Winner is based on uniqueness and useability. You will get your sheath in whatever colors we offer that you want.

Submit as many doodles as you want for any Fiddleback you own.

You don't have to be an artist. If I can decipher my own chicken scratch then it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out yours.

Bonus points if you keep things to a realistic scale, like no giant Leatherman pouches on a sheath built for a Runt. This happens amazingly often.

If I don't have your Fiddleback model on hand, you will need to send it in to have the sheath built.

Leather only, Not doing any kydex or hybrids at this time.

This is a pocket sheath design for the Fiddleback Forge Runt.

Features:

*The sheath has a square bottom for dress pants/slacks/khakis/cargo pants

*The is a small front area that can hold a credit card, id, ccw license, or some cash. This external pocket should be flexible enough to hold 2 to 3 cards

*The back includes the maker's mark as well as customized initial stamps for the purchaser (this could even be a shield or family mark)

*The sheath is longer on the edge side of the knife. As the sheath tapers on the edge side of the knife, the leather thins such that it contributes to knife retention, but can be displaced by the hand to enable a full grip in the pocket

*The sheath is shorter and thicker on the spine side of the knife. This culminates in a thick and firm piece of leather that the thumb can press against for leverage on the draw

*The orientation of the branding and the pocket changes based on whether the user carries on the right or the left. The sheath is designed so that the edge bevel should face the seam of the pocket - facing left in left pocket, and so forth. With a quickdraw, this will prevent user injury.

Philosophy of design: this sheath fulfills two primary functions. The first is to enable a full grip and one handed draw of the knife from within the pocket. While walking, I might like to conceal the blade and have it ready to go simply by pushing on the leather and gripping the scales securely. Second, the sheath eliminates the need for me to carry an additional wallet or similar item that can clutter the pocket. If I need to pay for something or show ID, I can do so without manipulating a wallet and without fiddling with multiple items in my pocket. Placement of the thick leather that is to be used as a leverage point to draw the knife is on the spine side such that the thumb is not cut when the knife is drawn quickly.

Thanks for doing this!

This design is an isp for an edc II or lonestar. The pocket clip has a thin sleeve over it to help protect it from scratching things (like car in my case).and you could even put your logo on it. The backside has a small pocket/sheath (not sure what you would call it)for tweezers or a F Rod

Cavalry style stacked sheath for a Monarch. Raised thumb welt for drawing the knife, leg tie down tab, vertical or horizontal carry using the simple straps on the back. Button/snap closure. Could throw a fire steel loop on there, but that's not for me. Considered a zippo pocket on the front, but I wanted to keep it simple.

Edit: changed to Monarch

Monarch Pouch sheath, with split belt loop that can be taken on/off without removing you belt. Extra male snaps so you can get more/less dangle depending on your taste and belt thickness.

Edit: Changed to Monarch

Less is more... Necker that has a kydex insert with some type of wings or tip pocket for the piece that keeps the leather stitches from being cut and gives you some hope of protection should you fall. It's so hot around here that the thought of a belt or something else in my pocket makes me hurt.

So cool, I'm a sketchin' this week. I know exactly what I'd like to see on myself. :)

Hi Sky,

Thanks for offering the opportunity to design and possibly win one of your fantastic sheaths.
I have a design for you I have been pondering for some time. Anyway, I carry knives, always, even though this is not strictly legal in Australia (you need an excuse, i.e. hunting, food prep etc.) so I like to have my knife sit high on my hip so it is not easily noticed, under an un-tucked shirt for example, and like to be able to remove it easily- this is not generally the case with most sheaths that need to be threaded onto a belt, especially when the sheath is at the buckle end of the belt (I wear my knife on the left hip with edge forward and draw with the right hand). Therefore I would really like a quickly removable sheath- but not by way of a clip- that is secure and rides high on the hip. I have attached a pic that I hope is understandable and can be made to work with a number of fasteners, like a buckle- for a bit of bling, snaps, those spherical pins etc. - it is also suitable for small to medium knives (I think it would be great for the smaller knives like the Patch, Hiking Buddy, BC Jr. etc.). I think there is a fair bit you can do with this design- dress it up or down, minimalist or rugged.

Jason, that's a really cool idea!

OK, here's a design I'd like to see for a Fiddleback Bushcrafter.
A simple dangler sheath with distressed brown leather and a diagonal black alligator wrap around the bottom.

Front:

Back:

*I should note: the alligator wrap goes around the front as well, but is not pictured in the top drawing.

Thanks for the contest Sky!
Very cool!

This is fun! Thanks Sky, I think I might try to make some of these if they don't win.

Anyhoo- dangler sheath for a Monarch, d ring for dangler slides into a clip, so the sheath can be a dangler, a pocket sheath, or a belt sheath. Eyelets provided for lacing paracord through, allowing you to make your own custom design with a knot, enabling you to lash a fire striker, sharpening equipment, a lighter sleeve, or whatever you want to the outside of the sheath, or to tie it to your backpack, etc. In an emergency that I'd probably never encounter, the paracord can be removed and repurposed.

Thanks Sky, I really liked this contest.

The first one will be a Law enforcement inspired sheath. The sheath is ambidextrous and it has a basket weave design. The Little pocket on front of sheath could be for a set of latex gloves for searching a suspect. Also, I was thinking if you used it for hiking the front pouch/pocket could hold any medication you need for the day. I has a liver transplant so I need medication daily

The second design is an Old West design with lots of tooling around the edges and a folded over leather strap on top to keep the knife locked in. It also has an old west deputy star on front and the top of the clip has a star. Both sheaths are clip on to the belt.

I think either sheath could be used for the Bushcrafter (my favorite Fiddleback)

For a Bushboot. Would like to see relatively plain saddle leather with pocket for a sharpening stone. Back would have belt mount rather than clip.

Thanks for the reason to doodle! My entry is a front pocket carry for an Esquire with a clip and a snap to hold it in place/hide the obviousness that it is a knife.
