For the last year or two because of heart and mobility issues I just don't leave the house near as much as I used to. But the need of a good knife does NOT go away but the type and/or model does change slightly. I have a loss of use of my left arm and hand (100%SC Navy vet) and because of that many common tasks are more difficult for me than the average user. I have found a small very sharp Buck like a 526 becomes more useful than if I was outside working or normal day to day tasks. Even a small multitool, especially with scissors, gets a lot of use for little tasks like opening alcohol prep pads, bandaids, eyeglass cleaners ect..But I would guess just opening mail is what most folks use there "Desk Buck" for. I spend a LOT of time at my desk so I use mine for a lot of different tasks. I also keep a decent variety right at hand. Today it's mostly full size folders. A 112 with a blade cutout and my new Magancut 110 plus a real favorite my BCCI club 111 from 2007 with Elk. That was my first 'Desk Buck' and it has about 8 years total duty! Once for 4 years running just because I like it so much. They vary over the years and starting around 2018 I started cycling some of my fancy 112's for limited desk duty.
I bet a lot of yall keep a few Bucks on YOUR desk just to have one or more handy! I think it's more common than you would first think. Same goes for what I call my "Truck Buck" that usually is a bigger fixed blade Buck along with a 112/110 folder. For years I kept a Buck camping kit with a hatchet 'Just in case' and ended up using it more than once to clear a path when a big tree had fell across the road. So what's on your desk?

Just kidding. Right now, the only Buck at my desk is the 112 in my pocket.

I have a few non-Buck desk knives (gasp!), but right now my Buck 110 Auto Elite is doing desk duty. It seems to alternate with the 2021 vintage 110 that I have on my neck lanyard right now. I also have a DLT Exclusive 110 drop point on the kitchen counter and the "packrat" 112 that Danny rescued at Buck HQ is on the table next to my recliner.

My desk at home has a drawer that (to the annoyance of my wife) slowly fills with knives until I empty it once a month or so. Currently it has two 112s, a 301, and two buck 110 belt sheaths.
