I'd been thinking about a custom letter opener/desk dagger for a while. I was in touch with Chuck Gedraitis and he said he'd be open to doing one. I picked the steel from some different patterns he had, gave a basic idea of what I was looking for (double edged, natural material inlaid in the handles, dimensions) and Chuck took it from there.
The steel is fiddleback pattern from Craig Barr and the inlays are pearl. Blade's about 4" and OAL is about 8". The circles at the center of the flutes are tiny pieces of the same pearl as the inlay. Fit on the inlays is great. The pattern of the steel gives a little different look on each side. This is kind of a hard knife for me to photograph, my light setup (if you can even call it that) doesn't work to get the right angle to be able to show good contrast on the whole knife at once, but I'll work on that this weekend so there'll be some more pics later on.
