S, I just ordered one of these BK24's with some of my Christmas money. I'm pretty excited about it but I wanted to find out what y'all think of this knife. Do you like it? How does it compare to an Izula (edge retention) I've also ordered the zytel scales to go on it and I will most likely make my own leather sheath for it. So what's the consensus?

Luv mine.

Don't have any experience with ESEE.

Generally, D2 will hold its edge longer than 1095 but don't let it get dull cuz it's harder to sharpen.

I think its a steal for the price. Built like a tank and will take a beating. D2 is good user steel. The scales are also a great addition. Fine choice, you wont be disappointed.

Awesome, that's what I like to hear. I love my izula but I wasn't terribly impressed with the edge retention. I think if it would have been tempered to a little bit higher RC it would be my altime favorite knife. So I've decided to creep over to Beckerville. We will see how it goes

I love mine. (My apologies for the length of this)

That being said, if you don't use diamond (dmt) stones, or SiC sand paper you will have a hard time sharpening it. I use the dmt diafold in fine/e-fine and it works well. Though I only use the fine side. I am sure their medium would work nicely as well considering the large carbide nature of non cpm d2. Just keep in mind that with the carbide structure of d2, it will like a toothy edge and hold its working edge for awhile even though the initial edge will (seemingly) lose its freshly sharpened bite.

I have just received a ceramic rod that I want to give a go, I noticed it seems to polish my 01 and 1095 blades more than I prefer on my d2. I will update my findings. That way, if you have access to a ceramic rod/stone, you won't have to try it yourself, lol.

I've got diamond stones, ceramic and waterstones. And a 1x30 belt sander. So thankfully I have the tools to sharpen darn near everything. :)

I used mine to debone a deer carcass last year - worked great and since the scales come with a set each of black and orange, I put one of each on the knife so it's harder to misplace.

I like the blade design of the bk14/24 better than the blade of the izula 1/2. The handle is the same as the izula 1. In a perfect world the handle would be a hair longer like the izula 2 but not a biggie. I am a 1095 guy. I would rather sharpen slightly more often but have it be easier. But that's just me. I have multiple bk14's, a bk24 and an izula 2. All great knives and great values. You will not be disappointed. I EDC a stripped bk14 w/ the factory black scales because it looks cool next to my glock. I will occasionally carry the izula 2, bk24 or a bk14 w/ wooden tommythewho scales if I am feeling like spicing things up a bit.

Well, here it is. Came in the mail today. I'm going with the black scales tomorrow and I'll probably throw the orange ones on in a day or too. It's nice to have options. I'm eventually going to make a nice leather sheath but for now I just did up some paracord to hook it to my belt. It's been reprofiled to a little under 30 inclusive with my 400 grit belt on the 1x30 belt sander, then king 1k, king 6k, Chinese natural 12k and loaded strop. This thing is stupid sharp now. Over all, this guy is happy

Looks good. Bet that edge IS nice. it's the Izula handle anyway and I prefer the Becker blade.

Don't the ESSE handles for Izula have a larger hole cutout at the end? I guess they should fit the 24 if one wanted.

I have a BK-14 and like it. If I ever replace it it'll be with a D'Esk. I'm a D-2 fan...one of my HEST's in particular is D-2 and God it's tough outdoors. My BK-14 does fine with the Cro-Van; typical I'd say. The problem is I have BK-11 san mai that blows it away in edge performance so it's the one usually packed first and used.

And don't believe all the rust gossip about D-2. It's not that bad.

Havent gave much thought to this knife but the good reviews an your pics., think im gonna look into this a little more lol thank you
