I just purchased a desktop CNC (you can see it at: http://www.maxnc.com/ ) and it's wonderful!

I will be using it to cut out some new handle designs. The table size is just right for fixed and folder work and is fairly fast and well built for the price. On the downside you must know CAD and CNC programing to operate the mill.

Stay tuned to my site for some new and exciting knives...

Mark Congrats on your new baby
Try bobcad 16.1 for a programming system. Its easy to use for design work and produces a cam file for you also. You can do simple 2 d drawings and make the blades work in the body for folders..IF you get good you can do 3 d stuff also..
The cam post processer can be set up for mills and lathes. It can be configured to most all machines..If you need any assitance please give me a call or email me.
I had my own machine shop for 13 years.. We had several cncs. Applications is my forte'

I need a better CAD program but, with the purchase I can only use Cadintosch (I use it on my mac and then transfer it to my 483pc) and it's a shareware version. I would like to get a older cad program but it would have to be on disks as I don't have a CD player on the used 486pc I purcased ($130) to run the CNC.

Let me know if anyone can help!!
