Here are two fine blades from Adam and Haley DesRosiers....

Several weeks ago, someone started a thread on the "Ultimate Bowie" (or something like that)

Lots of advice/makers were offered and suggested..

..Bladeforum member "Lorien" put up a couple of links and the DesRosiers website was one of them...

...So I took a look, cruised the site and liked what I read and saw...

They had several blades "available" at the time I was looking and after several days of looking and thinking I made a call to them...spoke to Adam and decided on this MASSIVE bowie they call the "Denali"

It is 17 3/4" in OAL with a 12" blade forged of L6 steel 3/8" thick at the handle (African Blackwood) tapering down to approx. 1/8" at the very tip....

couple of additional features on this knife are a "peaked" spine and the swedge was polished to a 4000 grit finish..

Overall it is finished in what they refer to as "Adventure Grade" which leaves the forging marks and a lot of character....

Guard is 416 stainless....

The little blade is a prototype "naked" hunter/utility with a cord wrap of braided leader line...

...7 1/4" OAL at 3/16" thick and a 3" blade....

.it is made from 8670 steel and will work perfectly for me as a skinner/EDC knife..

Both blades came with excellent sheaths made by them....

Enough talk!!.........

With those two blades plus the "ought-six" you should be ready for anything. Great stuff!

Knives and sheaths are all great! I bet you are grinning from ear to ear.

Always have loved Adam's big Bowies; that little utility from the DesRosiers is a perfect match. What a pair.

that's SO SICK!

That big sob looks like a ton of fun, and the little knife is mighty sweet.
This package pretty much epitomizes the type of knife I like to, ahem* collect, (ok, I admit it I officially have more knives than I can use in this lifetime so I grudgingly admit I'm a collector); small utility fixies and huge honkin mamajamas.
Anything in between, for me, is usually 'meh'. Usually, but not always;)

Great leatherwork there too. Way too many makers farm that kind of work out, and to me a sheath for a fixie is intrinsic with the design of the knife. A quality sheath from the creator of the knife always stands out, to my way of thinking.

Thanks all for taking a look and leaving a comment...

black mamba...good call on the caliber;)

Lorien, as I said...you were the "instigator" that led me to these blades...thanks!

oh crap, sorry man I totally missed that:o I was so stoked I just had to post, guess I didn't really read what you wrote first!

It makes me very happy that I was able to help you, in even a small way, discover this knife, and man it's a keeper:thumbup::cool: Not only that, but to help put food on the table of some really talented and well regarded people... well that's really what a lot of all this is about, isn't it?:)

A couple AWESOME blades f/a couple AWESOME makers!!! I love my big DesRosiers knife I have... fantastic ergonomics, BIG but also feels light, balanced and fast in the hand and the sheath works quite well too!!

Very SERIOUS looking, and a good candidate for an
"Ultimate Working Bowie", no doubt about that!!

The "Adventure Grade" finish does go well with such a knife!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Who's the hairy gorilla holding the big one? :p;):D

Nice set, my friend.

Normally, as forged finishes do little for me; but, this set is pretty damn kewl to me.:)
