I think the Desert Dagger is my all time favorite knife. On the few I've seen the fit and finish is flawless. I love the balance of the knife, it truely feel's alive in the hand.

one day...

:(

I have been kicking myself for letting the limited stacked-leather handle Desert Dagger get bought out from under me at Plaza Cutlery. I waited too long, if I just didnt spend any money on food that month I could have bought it in time to save it!! ....sob.....sob:(

Sweet knife!:D

The Desert Dagger is a great knife.:) Picked on up the summer and love it. Not only is it really beautifull, it's also a good user.:D Took it camping with me in October. It slices food really well. You should also check out the Government/Government Agent. It too is a sweet knife. Am fondling it right now.:D

Shhh, don't mention that knife around here cause Ron is liable to post a pic of it.:):p (Hint, Hint)

...Sorry, Ron, but I just HAD to.:D.

SOGman99 beat me to the draw! The Desert Dagger is a highly elegant and truly well balanced knife (as is the Government). I, too, would love a leather handled model. Maybe someday! :)

This is one nice combo for the Desert Dagger

In the Probert Encyclopaedia http://www.probertencyclopaedia.com/F6B.HTM the Desert Dagger is described as ''an American military knife developed to provide a more versatile tool than a regular dagger-type fighting knife.''

In 1995 Duncun Long even once wrote ''With the dagger style knives, the SOG Patriot (also known as the Desert Dagger) is my first choice''. http://www.prairienet.org/guns/media/scripts/6-27-95.htm

Well, you can't go wrong with the SOG Desert Dagger. I second what Duncan Long wrote.

I found this rather strange line drawing of the Desert Dagger http://www.discountknivesonline.com/desertdagger.htm
See if you can spot the difference. Perhaps Ron could tell us if there's one such Desert Dagger around some place.

Krizzard,
You DO have some sources, don't you!?!?

That handle is similar to the leather one, but drawn in the "Kraton" grip pattern.
I just got a Desert Dagger - VERY nice! It is similar in some ways to the old Gerber Mk II, but with a more comfortable grip, and slimmer profile.

I'd really like a leather one. I let the leather government get away (I sold it for twice what I paid...), but would like the leather dagger... hint... hint... hint...;)

BobbyB: But of course we have resources. Then again aren't we all SOG men here ;-)
About the Desert Dagger, yes it would appear that you have indeed answered correctly.
Mmmmm... Yes indeed, nothing like the sweet smell of fresh new leather.
