Detent ball on Brous Mini Division

Mates,

A quick question for those much more knowledgeable. I have a Mini Division, which I really like, flips well, but most of the time, at least, it feels like, for lack of a better description, that the detent ball is "dragging" across the blade and not "rolling" along the blade. I don't know that it is supposed to "roll," but wanted to ask. If not, guess there could be a little grit of some kind in there, or may just be normal, but does not feel like that on my ZT 0560 or 0550. Thanks for any responses - make me smarter!

Have one and "gritty" is just the way it is. It could also have some lint or dirt caught in the bearings.

Detent balls are pressed into the lock bar, and drag across the blade regardless the maker. As far as I know Jake Hoback created the only rolling detent called the Hoback Rolling Detent or HRD. I don't know who all uses the HRD, but Jason is not one of them AFAIK.

Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken.

Jesse, Thanks for the info. Certainly not bashing the knife, as I am really fond of it, just didn't know the answer. Thanks again.

I have noticed that if a knife is gritty feeling and the pivot is clean and not over tightened a drop of oil on the detent ball can fix it. Just be sure to keep lubricant off of the lock bar/blade interface.

Thanks, I will give that a try.

I have noticed that when you oil the detent ball and the path it travels on, the grittiness goes away (on all the knives I've had that happen with anyway) and the knife also becomes more smooth.
