Detent Ball question

Hi all, does the detent ball in frame locks actually have enough play in its housing to rotate freely, or is it fitted tightly in its hole?

Differs from lock to lock. I think, however, that it can rotate, but not easily.

I think most are press fit into the hole, so free rotation would be very limited.And welcome.

I would think a miniture threaded spring loaded ball plunger could be an option. Possibility? The ball could rotate but the spring would keep enough force on the blade to keep it closed. This would also cut down on the wear.
