Is there ever a point where the ball wears out enough to need replacing?
Rested my large regular for a while then picked it up again today. Now I realize the the blade is not kept very securly. Surley not as well as when new. Didn't notice till now.

Going to take it down tomorrow and investigate. Maby more spring tension would help??

(I can see the ball thru the gaps.)

There is always wear whith two points of contact so I suppose there will be a life span to them.
They are pretty simple to replace though so its not really a big problem.

Update!
Took it apart. I actually looked at the ball under a magnfying glass. It has little wear, hardly any at all. I checked the "rise" from the base metal it was .009". I don't know what the standard is, but wear is not the problem.
Plus the detent hole in the blade is about as shallow as the "rise" on the ball. OK then!

Then checked the lock lug position. Lug was about 50% over. GENTLY bent lug over to about 80%, to give more force on the blade therefore on the detent as well. Put back together, now it's just about right, also the unlocking is same as before.:)

Problem solved, never looked at these things before.
