Detent strength?

I know a detent cant get stronger on its own but my question is can lubricants or dirt particles or anything else make the detent more sticky so that it feels like it has become much much stronger when trying to disengage the detent?

Possibly, though I've never noticed it to any significant degree. I do recall hearing that acid etching a blade without covering the detent hole and wherever the detent travels will cause that.

Though I'm honestly not sure why you'd want to experiment as opposed to having a professional tweak the detent strength manually for you, unless the knife in question is somewhat too cheap for that.
