Ok don't believe I have posted in this forum before so here goes. Won a handmade off the bay. Signed J. Fisk 1988, carved stag handle with an eagle head on top and skull underneath. Supposedly came from a San Francisco collector who passed, but the knife itself looks like an "older" Frisco style knife or what might have been back in the day. The rub here is that I paid way way less than what would think a Fisk should go for. Luck of the bay or fake? I've an email in to Mr. Fisk but who knows if he will answer it. The knife comes with a gorgeous sheath too, bead work and such on it. Looking at the photo's the knife looks authentic as in a high degree of fit and finish with small oval guard. Don't know if it is cool to post the item number, but the auction has ended and it is paid for. So there ya go. Signature is signed in script and don't know if Fisk ever did that style of mark or not. The auction said it was Jerry Fisk knife"national living treasure". But the price makes me wonder. keepem sharp and let me know if anyone of knowledge can help me out.

OK here is the number of the finished auction. 221747200691 Thanks man, appreciated. keepem sharp

No, it's not made by Jerry Fisk NLT.
Jerry has signed or scratched his name on a very limited number of his knives as you can see by viewing the history of Jerry's marks that can be found on my website. I have never seen where he has dated a knife. 1988 would be the year before Jerry became the ABS's 17th Mastersmith.

I own the 2008 Fisk Fiskmuck folder prototype that Jerry signed. It appears to be different from your 1988 signature.

I am sure that Jerry will either answer your email or respond here.

Bow, sorry, I did not make it. I did not date any pieces at that time nor have i did the eagle carving on anything. I tried it once but it looked like
a chicken choking on a pretzel so i buried it under a small tree.
All knives at that time was stamped in 1/8 inch block letters.

So does their disclamer make it unable to get ebay involved as this being sold as a fraud or w/e, even though the seller may have honestly not known any better than to list it as a "Jerry" Fisk knife? The knife is signed "J" Fisk, so that is why I'm wondering, since they decided to say the "J" stood for "Jerry" and went on to say "national living treasure" etc.. lol I have no idea how ebay and all this stuff works, just curious is all.

This is the disclamer I'm talking about:

"All items are sold 'as-is' and NO REFUNDS will be given. We try to describe each item as accurately as possible and catch any flaws; however, your trained eye and knowledge of particular items may notice something that we do not. Our photos should give you a very accurate representation of the item. Due to our limited knowledge, our description might contain errors. In that case, trust the photos! Your bid should be based on the photos and measurements."
