Hi i've got a short question. How is the round card like thingy called to determine the knife angle? And where can I buy it? thanks,Ruud

This is the Spyderco Edge Angle Guide:

And this is a protractor:

If either of these is not what you are talking about, then we may need some more information about what you're talking about.

Your trying to determine what angle your new 566 is aren't you? Well, let us know when you do, I am also interested to know this.

If you're talking about that round brass one (made by Richard Bell I think?) I've asked some owners and they say it's not very useful. Supposed to be well made though.

Lol yes thats why I need one. Just ordered the Edge Pro Apex 4. :D

I have a wicked edge, I reprofiled my 0561, each knifes angles can differ from side to side and knife to knife.
Not sure what it was before but now it's 22 degree each side, use a sharpie ink pen, to see where your contacting the blade the most, then hopefully the other side is the same, if not you can reprofile or adjust your angle.

If you're looking for one of these...do yourself a favor, and stop looking. I got one, and it doesn't work for 95% of my knives because they have to be really thick behind the edge to keep it from going into the little hole at the end of the notch.

That Spyderco version looks interesting. If nothing else, it allows you to visualize the angles if you free hand your sharpening. I may have to find one of those to add to my pile of otherwise useless stuff.
